7 Artisan Tarot Card Decks For A New Year Of Insights

Tarot & Oracle Decks For Thoughtful Introspection

Tarot cards have been around for hundreds of years (more than 500, actually!), offering reflection and introspection. Regular tarot decks consist of 78 cards split into two groups, the Major Arcana (22 cards that reflect larger milestone events in one’s life) and the Minor Arcana (the remaining 56 cards divided into four suits: wands, swords, pentacles, and cups).

As you go through a reading, each card you pull will hold significance that’s up to you—or a reader—to help interpret. As tarot expert Jerico Mandybur writes, “[Tarot] is kind of like self-directed therapy—a chance to slow down, a container in which to go deep, and a safe space in which to show up for yourself.”

If you’re interested in exploring the world of tarot, consider one of the artisan decks or shops below. Keep in mind that some are oracle decks, which aren’t 78 cards like traditional tarot, but a number selected by the designer; the general meanings and use will stay the same though. As this is an intimate practice, it’s important to pick the deck that most “speaks” to you or most makes you feel “seen.”
